Lewisberry, PA - UKC shows

We had a very nice Saturday showing on April 30. In show 1, Solstafir went Herding Group 1, under Judge David Kittredge, and in show 2, went Herding Group 2, under Judge Alleyne Dickens. Mr. Ketteridge was especially complimentary of Solstafir, after BIS, and gave me a few words of advice for attaining the next step in UKC shows, a BIS or Reserve BIS win.

I also had fun handling a Shetland Sheepdog altered female, at her owner's request, and put a CH on her. I took her to best altered sheltie in show one, and in show 2, I took her to best altered sheltie, and best in altered group to finish her. Nice!

AKC / UKC GCH Fox Meadow Thorra Kari

Fox Meadow Thorra Kari is co-owned by Jo Ann Secondino. His pedigree is one that combines North American lines, with European, carrying kennels Viking, Aldebaran, and Pineridge on his maternal side, and primarily Thytur Stadir, on the paternal side.

Kari carries primarily red sable long coat, of moderate length. His hips are rated OFA Excellent, and Penn HIP .33 / .36. His eyes are certified normal for three annual eye exams, by both CERF and OFA. Kari has certified full dentition, and is in the DNA database, giving him a CHIC number.

Kari, (call name Vetur) earned his AKC Grand Champion title on February 15, 2014, after having earned his AKC CH two months after turning 2 years old. He earned his UKC Champion at the age of 13 months. Kari / Vetur is ranked the #3 UKC Icelandic Sheepdog for 2013. He was the #7 ranked Icelandic Sheepdog in the AKC, for 2013. He is currently the #5 Icelandic in the AKC.

Since his first conformation shows in August 2011, at 6 months old, Kari has earned:

Both his AKC and UKC Grand Champion titles

Multiple Herding Group #1 placements - UKC

Multiple Herding Group #2 placements -UKC

Multiple Best of Breed placements - AKC & UKC

Kari's Great Grand-Dam, Pineridge Elska, was the very first Icelandic Sheepdog to earn a Conformation Championship in North America.

Other than all of that, Kari / Vetur is my most romantic boy, and has never seen a bed he did not want to climb into, to snuggle. He loves to play, wrestle, and roll all day with his brothers.

AKC / UKC Grand CH Fox Meadow Hausti Solstafir

Fox Meadow Hausti Solstafir is the son of Viking Lilja, and Tofi av Isheim. He is co-owned by Jo Ann Secondino. Along with his more recent lineage from Kennels Viking, Isheim, Aldebaran, Istolt, and Pineridge, he carries a wonderful 4th and 5th generation pedigree which traverses well known European, Scandinavian, and Icelandic kennels such as Ullalva, Kolsholti, Thytur Stadir, and of course Isheim.

Solstafir carries the rare chocolate gene, carries tri-color, and brings Icelandic and Scandinavian heritage from both sides of his pedigree, that is not well represented in the U.S. The contribution he can make to the genetic diversity and generational variation in this country is profound.

Solstafir earned his AKC Grand Champion title on September 8, 2012, after having earned his AKC CH one month after turning 2 years old. He earned his UKC Champion title on October 2, 2010, at the age of 11 months. Solstafir is ranked the #1 UKC Icelandic Sheepdog for 2013. Solstafir was the #2 ranked Icelandic Sheepdog in the UKC, for 2012. He was the # 5 AKC Icie in 2012, the #6 AKC Icie for 2013. He is currently the #7 Icelandic in the AKC.

Other than all of that, Solstafir has never met a person he did not like, and rarely met a dog he did not want to play with. He enjoys being a very silly and affectionate boy.
